Alta Cienega Motel

I don't understand a lot of the complaints - this ain't a fancy joint, but it's not like sleeping in a sticky alley either. The room wasn't spectacular but definitely adequate. Not a four star hotel by any stretch of the imagination but the friendly staff, great location, and the charm of the Jim morrison room (i didn't stay in it but it was neat that it was there) along with the reasonable price makes this a great place to stay.

I was sceptical but was allowed to do an inspection. asked for a lightbulb for bathroom, the folks helped but I installed it No bigy. we arrived on Sat dressed up and headed out. we left true valubels in the car till we got back. then when we got back the folks were cleaning there parking lot. pruned there plants and got ready with there family for bed. I sat out on the door stoop drinking a carona beer and watched. well we i got to talking to the owners . Very kind once they got to know us. My wife and I were given a tour . the owner mentioned the room Jim Morris rented out on the second floor and gave us a showing. Only my opinion but the room is a filthy shrine... to Jim Morrison of the Doors. beside that and the owners kindness I became a little more relaxed. We stayed Sat to Tuesday in May2016. what started out skeatchy was won over by the owners. But when Monday night arrived the local heroin addicts started to come back. I guess they leave before the weekend and come back around Monday evening. They were different to talk to . a little sad, there all young but hopefully harmless. but I didnt take chances. I was on alert till we caught or plain on Tuesday afternoon and went home. But beside that I wouldn't go back. it was an experience...

I see it as a part of music history and really like to staying in Jim Morrison's room - maybe the rooms weren't at tip top shape but the vibe and the convenience of w hollywood being at your fingertips was well worth it- the rooms were clean and acceptable.

I'm not sure why some of these reviews are so bad. It's not a five star hotel....but it's a great price for the area, the rooms are acceptable to good, and we had no issues. I have stayed in some truly awful hotels. You get what you pay for and this was waaay better than I was expecting. It's kinda cute and there's a great Pho place right around the corner.

In West Hollywood Hotel prices can get kind of expensive this is a true gem if anything it's a historical landmark they have something called the Jim Morrison Room no one knows about it but his all his fans all across the globe. It's upstairs over the arc when you first pull it who played in the band called The Doors this location is highly recommended if you feel like spending less than $100 and getting a little touristy feel of less Hollywood all the rest of the hotels can set you back between $200 -$2,000 a night this is a true Dimond in the rough. Ignore the hateful commemts from other reviewers. I'm very impressed Thank you for the awesome stay. Pros: Affordable Cons: None

I stayed at this motel before and the nice folks took very good care of me. I was there this last weekend for Los Angeles Gay Pride at West Hollywood. Booked my room for two days, in advance. Had some problems getting to them and they held my room for me. They could have given it to someone else and probably should have, but they didn't. That says a lot about how much they care about their customers. The room was clean and had air conditioning. Thank God, those two days and nights were hot. They're very friendly and allowed me to stay there until my cab came to get me. If you ever need a place to stay for not a lot of money, stay at The Alta Cienega Motel. They'll take good care of you.

Periodically, the room 32, which was the favorite of Jim Morrison, is repainted when the walls are overwhelmed by poems, graffiti and dedications for Jim and the Doors: a true temple that is renewed without end. Probably not the best room to sleep, since they could knock in the middle of the night to ask to photograph walls and so on, but certainly it is a piece of history not to be missed.

I am staying here for 10 days from Australia. The rooms are very clean with great white sheets and a clean bathroom. .I live it yet and will restay on future trips to West Hollywood from Oz...Staff are friendly..and wifi is strong and fast...Staff can not do enough for me...The rate is very economical vabd opposite CSV store and located just off Santa Monica Blv...central easy walking access to Santa Monica Blv... I can not wait for my return stay...Another couple of weeks in West Hollywood..I can handle that. X
